Mary Virginia "Gina" Nicol, 66, of Nauvoo, Illinois, passed away at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born November 29, 1948 in Fort Madison, Iowa the daughter of Woodrow William and Lorretta Joan (Tucker) Wilson. On July 13, 1968 she married George Sam Nicol in Nauvoo, Illinois.

Survivors include her husband George; one daughter, Shelly (Kory) Kraus of Nauvoo, Illinois; one son, Scott (Roni Sue) Nicol of Dallas City, Illinois; five granddaughters, Ashley (JC) Counts, Abi (Chris Arnold) Kraus, Ellie Kraus, Anna Nicol, and Lauren Kraus; four grandsons, Jeremy Nicol, Dallas Kraus, Jacob (Kati Waddell) Nicol, and Joe Nicol; two great-granddaughters, Sawyer Kraus and Aubree Counts; two great-grandsons, Jarron Counts and Jayden Nicol; three sisters, Jeanie Fortado of Fort Madison, Iowa, Carol (Ed) Lange of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, and Sandy (Rich) Hopper of Nauvoo, Illinois; three brothers, Henry Wilson of Nauvoo, Illinois, Joe (Vickie) Wilson of Dallas City, Illinois, and Jim (Linda) Wilson of Nauvoo, Illinois; four sisters-in-law, Nancy (Harley) Jones of Davis City, Iowa, Linda Nelson of Nauvoo, Illinois, Judy Schuck of Palos Heights, Illinois, and Carole Wilson of Nauvoo, Illinois; one brother-in-law, Joe Meierotto of West Point, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Bev Meierotto; three brothers, Jack Schuck, Tom Wilson, and Mick Wilson; her mother and father-in-law, George and Rose Nicol; and one brother-in-law, Robin Nicol.

Gina graduated from Nauvoo-Colusa High School. She worked for Nauvoo Cheese Co., Casey's General Store, Duck's Foods, Nicol Construction, and as a housewife. She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and visiting with her family and people around Nauvoo.

The graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Nauvoo City Cemetery with Pastor Mark Anderson officiating. A celebration of life will be held at the Nauvoo State Park Main Shelter House following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Nauvoo Fire and Rescue.
