Albert Ray "Red" Young, 87 of Nauvoo, passed away at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Illinois.

Born June 8, 1928 at Fort Madison, Iowa the son of Charles and Bertha (Doty) Young. On November 12, 1949 at Saint Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point, Iowa he married Margie Fraise.

Survivors include his wife Margie of Nauvoo, three daughters Linda (Mike) Parker of Rome, Iowa, Barb (Dan) Schmitz of Olathe, Kansas and Patty (Mike) Haigh of Nauvoo, one son Michael (Debbie) Young of Camp Point, Illinois, ten grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Red was preceded in death by his parents and twelve siblings. He was the last of his immediate family.

Red was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo, Illinois. He worked as a commercial fisherman, after his retirement he and Margie were the custodians of the Ss Peter and Paul Catholic School where the students and staff referred to him as "Grandpa Red". He served in the United States Army from 1949-1950.He enjoyed golfing, fishing, mowing and caring for his yard.

Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo where the family will meet with friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. There will be a parish rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. at the church.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo with Fr. Tony Trosley as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in West Point, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Sts. Peter and Paul School in Nauvoo.
