James R. Hoffman, 86, of Franklin, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2014 at his home.

Born March 27, 1928 in Park Falls, Wisconsin the son of Peter and Anna (Woodie) Hoffman. On October 30, 1976 at St. Mary's Church in West Point he married Dorothy Johnson Wagner.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Franklin. Four step children: Nola Gram of Fort Madison, Edward Wagner of Franklin, Paul Wagner of Burlington and Susie Whitaker of Argyle, Iowa. Six step-grandchildren, fifteen step great-grandchildren, one step great great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and five sisters.

Jim was of the Catholic faith. A United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Holtz-Geers American Legion Post #668 in West Point.

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson with Fr. Dennis Hoffman officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Peter's Cemetery near Franklin with full military rites by the Holtz-Geers American Legion Post #668 of West Point.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Cemetery.
