Betty Jury and Family

Jewell E. "Bud" Jury, 85, of rural Farmington, Iowa, passed away at 9:02 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at his home in rural Farmington.

Born October 27, 1929 near Farmington, Iowa, the son of Jewell E. and Ruby (Schumaker) Jury. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Rohdy on September 4, 1949 in Primrose, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife Betty of rural Farmington, children Carol Jury Knight of Coromandel Valley, South Australia, James (Ann) Jury of Farmington, Iowa, Mary (Bob) Dodds of Montrose, Iowa, Joseph (Debbie) Jury of Ingalls, Kansas, Timothy (Janet) Jury of Kansas City, Missouri and Robert (Yvette) Jury of Iowa City, Iowa; Twenty grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, three sisters Doris (Bob) Robinson of Parma, Ohio, Vivian Lawyer of Des Moines, Iowa and Llewellyn (Don) Balster of Marion, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Keith Knight and one brother Joseph.

Bud was a graduate of Donnellson High School and attended Iowa State University. He was a retired farmer having farmed in Iowa and Kansas. He was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church, where he served on the Session, taught Sunday School and was a trustee. Bud served on the Harmony school board including as president. He was a member of the Farm Bureau. He was appointed by Governor Ray to the Iowa Judiciary Nominating Committee. Bud had been awarded Lee County Young Farmer of the Year and was a 4-H leader. He enjoyed all things related to agriculture, traveling, reading, old movies, music, history (especially the Civil War), his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service, Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Sharon Presbyterian Church in rural Farmington, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday with Reverend Richard Eis officiating.

Burial will be at the Sharon Cemetery in rural Farmington.

A memorial has been established in his memory to the Sharon Presbyterian Church.
