Roy John "Junior" Lowenberg, Jr., 92, of the Kensington in Fort Madison, Iowa, formerly of Donnellson, passed away at 9:06 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2015 at The Madison in Fort Madison.

Born May 3, 1922 in Argyle, Iowa the son of Roy and Louise E. (Eyler) Lowenberg Sr. On June 21, 1947 he married K. Colleen Driscoll at String Prairie Catholic Church in Argyle. She preceded him in death on August 18, 1983.

Survivors include two sons Steven (Susan) Lowenberg of Quincy, Illinois and David (Deb) Lowenberg of West Point, Iowa, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one grandson Bobby Lowenberg and one sister in infancy.

Junior was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington and the Donnellson American Legion Post #474. He was a 1940 graduate of Donnellson High School. He served in the Army during WWII at which time he was the recipient of the Purple Heart Award. Junior owned and operated Lowenberg's Mobile Service Station in Donnellson. He was a past member of the Donnellson Fire Department, Green Acres Country Club, Keokuk Elks Club and Fort Madison Eagles Club. Roy enjoyed golfing, hunting, playing cards, spending time with his friends and family.

Friends may call from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson with Father Dennis Hoffman officiating. The family will meet with friends from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m.

Burial will be at the Evangelical Cemetery in Donnellson with full military rites presented by the Donnellson American Legion Post #474.

A memorial has been established in his memory to the Donnellson American Legion Honor Flight Fund.
