Theda Joyce Hoover, 89, of Farmington, Iowa passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua, Iowa.

Born April 23, 1925 in Chili, Illinois the daughter of Harry Joseph and Lydia Frances (Parrish) Wolgemuth. She grew up and went to school in the Colusa/Dallas City, Illinois area. On November 25, 1944 she married Dale Ward Hoover in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1976. They farmed and raised purebred Hampshire hogs southwest of Bonaparte, Iowa. In 1985 she moved to Farmington, Iowa living there until she became a resident at the Good Samaritan Society.

Prior to her retirement from Sheller-Globe in Keokuk, Iowa, she had worked at Sheaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, Iowa; the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Burlington, Iowa; Fairfield Glove Factory in Bonaparte, Iowa; and as a waitress/server at several establishments in Bonaparte and Farmington. The most important thing in her life was her family and she loved family gatherings. Joyce was an avid card player, and loved playing Euchre and Texas Holdem' Poker. Joyce loved life itself and no matter where she was or what she was doing she was known for her sense of humor and having fun. She was a compassionate caring person who put everyone and their needs first above hers, never asking in return. She was everyone's "Grandma Joyce".

Survivors include her daughter Janet Huff of Las Vegas, Nevada; three grandsons Ashley and Bryan Huff of Farmington, Iowa, Casey Vickers of Savannah, Georgia; two granddaughters Jodi Huff (Eric) Ruppert of Pella, Iowa and Kadie Jo (Nick) Ritland of Ratcliff, Iowa; one great-grandson Logan Ruppert; three former sons-in-law; one sister Mary Newberry of Canton, Missouri, one brother Dale Wolgemuth of Fort Madison, Iowa, twenty two nieces and nephews; several great and great-great nieces and nephews; one sister-friend Bernice Breiner and her son Darryl McKisson; as well as many, many good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dale; one daughter Jane Ann Vickers Jury; one sister Frances Dochterman; three brothers Lenford, Earl and Ray Wolgemuth; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; one niece; and four nephews.

Per her wishes there will be no services and her body will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
