Wayne Carl Sander, 83, of Donnellson, Iowa, passed away at 5:50 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2015 at Donnellson Health Center.

Born October 27, 1931 in Donnellson, Iowa the son of Carl E. and Bertha (Wilhelm) Sander.

Survivors include one brother, John (Sharon) Sander of Farmington, Iowa; two nieces, Paula (Jeff) Ellis and Lori Sander; two great-nephews, Josh and Parker Ellis; one great-niece Lily Gadau; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Wayne was a lifetime member of Saint Paul's United Church of Christ in Donnellson, Iowa. In recent years he attended West Point Presbyterian Church. Wayne was a 1949 graduate of Donnellson High School. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Donnellson American Legion Post #474. Wayne was a lifelong farmer, farming with his brother, John for over 50 years. He lived on the same farm his entire life except from 1953 to 1955 when he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed traveling, collecting toy tractors, and going to farm shows.

Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson, Iowa. The family will meet with friends from 1:00 p.m. To 2:00 p.m. that afternoon at the funeral home.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Dean Moberg and Pastor Larry Shipley officiating. Burial will be at the Primrose Cemetery near Primrose, Iowa. There will be a flag presentation at the graveside by the Donnellson American Legion Post #474.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Donnellson Library Building Fund.
