Bessie Mae Kite, 84, of Farmington, Iowa passed away at 4:40 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2015 at her home.

Born July 8, 1931 in Memphis, Missouri, the daughter of Robert and Pearl (Gray) Hatfield. On May 28, 1950, she married Otis James Kite, Sr. in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1998.

Survivors include two daughters, Cyrillis Kite and Brenda (Joe) Cochran both of Farmington, Iowa; four sons, Otis (Teresa) Kite, Jr. of Farmington, Iowa, Lloyd (Linda) Kite of Bonaparte, Iowa, Joe (Kim) Kite of Farmington, Iowa, and Gerald (Diane) Kite of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Vearl MCCombs of Farmington, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Francine Kite of West Point, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otis; and two sons, Roger and Robert Kite.

Bessie worked as a residential treatment worker for the Mental Health Institute in Mount Pleasant, Iowa where she retired after 21 years. She enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, playing cards, and collecting cow figurines.

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington. The family will meet with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. that evening at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2015 at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington with Pastor Larry Wallingford officiating.

Burial will be at the Croton Cemetery in Croton.

Memorials may be made to the Farmington EMT's or Hospice of Central Iowa.
