Daniel Swinderman, 66, of Aledo, Illinois, formerly of Charleston, Iowa passed away at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at his home.

Born September 20, 1949 in Keokuk, Iowa the son of Wilbur S. and Florence L. (Freese) Swinderman.

Survivors include his two sisters: Cindy Swinderman of Fort Madison, Iowa and Carol (Walter) Gaspard of Magnolia, Texas, three nephews: Keegan Sheets, Cameron (Beth) Sheets and Nicholas Gaspard and one great niece: Penelope Sheets.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Robert and one great nephew Noah Sheets.

He was a 1966 graduate of Central Lee High School and an 1971 graduate of Iowa State University majoring in Math and minors in Computer Science and Physics. He served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973 and worked on a Pershing Missile base in Germany for the majority of his service. For thirty four years he was Senior Programmer at FBS Systems, Inc., he created software used by thousands of farmers throughout North America. Daniel enjoyed sports, especially basketball and baseball and was known to play a game with friends in the driveway. He loved teasing his co-workers, friends and family and enjoyed a good joke. While he was a man of few words, he was a fan of Captain Stubby songs and was known to quote the Captain on a regular basis.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Aledo, Illlinois

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Aledo, Illlinois with Pastor Daren Dietmeier officiating.

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. that evening.

A second memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson, Iowa with Pastor Peg Ellingson officiating.

A private family burial will be held at the Charleston Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established in his memory.
