Jean "Jeannie" Walljasper Panther, 63, of Fort Madison, Iowa, passed away at 9:20 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at her home.

Born March 21, 1952 at Fort Madison, Iowa the daughter of Francis H. and Arline C. Fraune Walljasper.

On May 28, 1988 at West Point, Iowa she married Lawrence J. "Larry" Panther. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1991.

Survivors include her brother Richard (wife Susan) Walljasper of Mount Pleasant, Iowa and cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters in-law: Ken (Mary Lynn) Panther, Jane Panther, Mike (Linda) Panther, Tony (Nancy) Panther, Don Panther, Bill (Cindy) Panther, MJ (Stan) Boeding, Bernie (Karen) Panther, Bob (Sharon) Fullenkamp, BJ (George) Gay, Joe (Karen) Fullenkamp, Jeff (Susan Kruse) Fullenkamp, Ann (Ted Ablahat) Shambo and her lifelong best friend Ed Fedler.

She was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Arline Walljasper, her husband Larry, brother Don Walljasper, her husband Larry's parents Albert and Edna Panther and Glenn Fullenkamp, brother-in-law Karl Panther and great nephew Harrison Walljasper.

She was a 1970 graduate of Marquette High School she then attended college in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. She worked for Chem-Gro, Dr. Caauwe's office in West Point, the Iowa State Penetintiary. She retired on February 10, 2010 from the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics with over 27 years of service. Jeannie was a member of Holy Family Parish and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. Jeannie loved spending time with family and friends, playing cards and games, traveling and singing. She sang at over fifty weddings and events. Throughout her life she volunteered at several church offices. Her true love was conversations with a friend or a stranger and hearing their story and what their passion was.

Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point. The rosary will be recited at 4:00 with the family meeting friends following the rosary until 7:00 p.m. There will be a wake service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Sts. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Holy Family Parish in Fort Madison with Reverend David Wilkening as Celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in West Point.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Fort Madison Food Pantry or the Crisis Center Food Bank in Iowa City.
